As to ensure that no portion of the area involved is excluded.AS each plate covers an area of 2° square, every part of the region except those lying between the extreme degrees - 40° to - 41° and - 51° to - 52° will thus appear on two plates at least.Between the limits of declination - 41° to each zone consists of 144 plates, t.e., the centres of consecutive plates are located at intervals of 10 minutes in ra.
