This, how ever, would have taken a considerable time, and at my period of life one may not venture to presume upon the future. I can only feel deeply thankful for the measure of health and strength I have enjoyed which has enabled me, however imperfectly, to carry out an idea which I had long entertained.If some pages of these Reminiscences appear to deal with trivialities, we must remember that life is of necessity largely made up of inconsiderable matters. Moreover, the volume is not intended for serious reading.
