To this I am indebted for the details of the Bishop's domestic sorrows, which appear in Winifredes Journal - as well as for the account of the persecution which he bore so nobly and patiently. The characters introduced are for the most part imaginary, though those who are connected directly or indirectly with the Bishop's family arc real personages, mention of whom is to be found in the biography to which I have referred.
