Angebote / Angebote:

Robert Chute brings his considerable powers of observation and narration to detail Maine's natural and built landscape. Chute pays particular attention to the artifacts from European settlers that may obscure or eliminate traces of Native Americans. Although he might not have planned it as such, this book echoes an ancient paean to the land we call Maine. About the poet: Robert Maurice Chute is a poet, and was the fourth poet to win the Chad Walsh Poetry Prize, which is awarded annually by the editorial board of the Beloit Poetry Journal, for his poem "Heat Wave in Concord." Chute born in Naples, Maine in 1926. He earned a BA degree from the University of Maine in 1950, and an D.Sc. from Johns Hopkins University in 1953. He has served as a professor and educator in biology, and has taught at Bates College, Middlebury College, San Fernando Valley State College and Lincoln University. He is Professor Emeritus of Biology at Bates College and also served as director of the Bates-Morse Mountain Conservation Area. His research specialization is in human ecology and estimation of cultural impact on lake and coastal ecosystems. He currently lives on Middle Rand Pond in Poland, Maine.
