The following addresses were published in Freiburg, Germany, during the autumn of 1904, under the title, M odome Geschichtswissen schaft. The English translation is the work of E. A. Andrews, who secured the aid of Dr. Felix Kriiger of the department of philosophy of the University of Leipzig in the matter of psychological terms, Dr. Max Lisner also lent valuable aid. Professor William E. Dodd, of Randolph-a College, Virginia, gave the whole a careful revision. To all of these both the author and the translator take this means of expressing their hearty thanks.
