Welcome Home Lad is the memoir of Bob Power -- born in the Bronx, New York of Irish immigrant parents. It is the heartfelt account of his parents (Mary and Pat), their early life in Ireland, immigration to America and their love and sacrifice to provide greater opportunity for their children. Bob is raised as a product of two cultures. As a young teenager spending the summer with Aunts and Uncles in Ireland he forges an enduring bond with his country of ancestry and learns about the Irish way of never forgetting and always ready to Welcome Home their sons and daughters, even those foreign born. The memoir follows him as he marries, has his own children, focuses on his career and stays connected to Ireland during the course of his life. The death of his father in 2005 begins a period of reflection for Bob and the deaths of his Aunt and Uncle in 2009 and 2010, respectively brings Bob full circle, as he accompanies his Mom back to Ireland and is Welcomed Home once more.
