Excerpt from Weekly Station Reports of the Division of Dry Land Agriculture, Bureau of Plant Industry, U. S. Department of Agriculture: August 1933After little rains for early pasture. Flowers on most seedlings are single and open much better during dry weather than the double flowers of selected plants. This plant was once a favorite for planting in the plains, but lost its popularity through the introduction of the poorly blooming double varieties.
