Water-Power in the British Empire

Angebote / Angebote:

Excerpt from Water-Power in the British Empire: The Reports of the Water-Power Committee of the Conjoint Board of Scientific SocietiesThe water-power Committee of the Conjoint Board of Scientific Societies was appointed in 1917 its terms of refer ence being to report on what is at present being done to ascertain the amount and distribution of water-power in the British Empire. With this in view, the Committee has endeavoured to collect all available relevant information. It presented a first report in July, 1918, a second report in March, 1919, and a third and final report in January, 1921.Considerable public interest has been evinced in these various reports, and the present volume is an endeavour to incorporate their salient features in a form readily available to anyone interested in this subject. In the light of more recent information, it has been found necessary to modify some of the figures of the earlier reports. In such cases the modified figures are now given. In its preliminary report the Committee thought it desirable to exceed somewhat its terms of reference, and, in view of the great importance of the matter, to devote some little space to the general question of water-power and its utilisation.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
