Cyanoacetanilide derivatives are important and versatile reagents, which have especially been used for the synthesis of polyfunctionalized five- and six-membered rings and condensed heterocycles. Cyanoacetanilides are poly-functional compounds that possess both electrophilic and nucleophilic properties.
