Heather and Timothy O'Neill are young and wealthy. The first disruption in their happy marriage occurs when one of their venture-capital company's investments is acquired in what proves to be a fraudulent merger. GEORGE PIERCE has pursued a career in the formation and development of high technology start-ups since his graduation from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In all he has participated in the founding of six enterprises of which he has functioned as the chief executive and chief financial officer. Two of these businesses became publiclyowned and two were acquired by Fortune 500 companies. Since retirement from business management, Mr. Pierce has become an active on-line trader of stocks and options.
