This is an exploration of the United States military leadership in the American Revolutionary War. Examines leaders of the Continental Navy and the frontier. When the American colonists did not have a regular army, each colony traditionally provided for its own defenses through the use of local militia. Some states, most notably Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, also had their own Navies.
