The relations of capital and labor, the power of the State to regulate the character and hours of work for women and children, the punishment of those who seek to relieve themselves of the duty to support wife and children. The proper safeguards to throw about marriage, the correction of the mani fest evils arising from divorce - all these are but typical of an aroused public conscience that is urging our lawmakers to do whatever may be possible within the sphere of the legislative function to bring our social laws into closer correspondence with the gen eral acceptation of what is just.
