He was then, if I am not mistaken, in Deacon Orders and took the position of Rector's Assistant and Organist in the Parish of St. John's. He often remarked that he intended to stay in the United States for only a year or so. For a glimpse of the life and society on this side of the border: then he would return to Canada and ful fill his ministry there. But it was ordered otherwise.
