The Chief Sargeon held clinics in various sections of the state andlthcre examined all who pr seated themselves at the clinics. From these he wouldlselect some who were in most urgent need of operation and where the results were.most promising. As.many of them.were taken is the funds set aside for this purpose would permit. In 1929 a l w was passed ere ting a. Crippled Children' 3 Commission. During the first year after the passage of this law, while the Commission was getting organized, the State Board of Health continued its work and treated (91 during 1929-1930 and 40 during the first 6 months of 1931) 151 children at its own expense. During the last few months of the Board's participation in this work certain funds were pooled with the funds of the Crippled Children's Commission and the service of the Board con tinned as before pith this one exception. There is attached in a later section of this report the work done for crippled children and its per capita cost.
