After having com oleted the fourth book, Mr. Gary was obliged, from infirm health, to relinquish the undertaking - when Mr. Osborn applied to the writer of this prefatory note, to complete the work his friend Cary had left unfinished. He undertook, and has accomplished it, as well as he could, in the time allowed to him.
