Excerpt from The Strong Verb in Fischart
The title of this dissertation is not completely commensurate with the ground covered. Since its inception the investigation has enlarged its scope and includes in its present form, not only the strong verb in Fischart, but also the most important characteristics of the strong verb in Murner, Luther, and Hans Sachs, as compared with the usage of our author. The studies of D. B. Shumway and of Francke form the basis of comparison.
To Professor Marion D. Learned, of the University of Pennsylvania. the writer wishes to express his appreciation of the constant assistance and encouragement accorded him during and since his graduate days. The helpful suggestions of Professor D. B. Shumway, and the valuable assistance of his monographs on the verb in Murner and Sachs are gratefully acknowledged.
