Excerpt from The Sixty-Third Annual Report of the American Madura Mission, 1897The purpose of a report we conceive to be to present the facts, and with this purpose in view we send forth a statement of what has been attempted and what has been done in this mission during the past year, that all who would know of the progress of Christ's kingdom in this part of India may read and ponder and pray. Some of the facts may need explanation or comment, and this we have tried to give. There are also facts relating to the growth of the kingdom in the hearts of men which can be reported only partially if at all.
