The Sigma Phi Epsilon Journal, Vol. 10

Excerpt from The Sigma Phi Epsilon Journal, Vol. 10: May 1, 1913 For the first time a work of general education is being done under the authority of united bodies. Committees of strong men have been appointed to delve into the statistics, to dig out the facts and to pre sent carefully worked out conclusions. These men, who three years ago would have willingly done this work in behalf 'of their own or ders, would hardly have felt it incumbent upon them or in any wise a duty to do it. For the good of all. Yet they are doing these things to day and doing them with no thought of particular and special good to their own individual fraternities. The education which is coming out of it is free to all and belongs to all. As all know and as already said, the organization has no legisla tive power, and all it can accomplish is in the way of teaching us all that the work in the end is one for all to do, and also teaching us that there actually is such a work.
