THE PENDRAGON COLLECTION 1 : The Scotiad is chiefly a collection of long poems drawn from separate periods of Scottish history. The first two are transcreations of earlier authors, the Gododdin is based upon the poem by the 7th century bard, Aneirin, while Bannockburn is a combination of Blind Harry's Wallace & John Barbour's 'The Bruce.' The next poem concerns the killing of the last wolf in Scotland, followed by an account of the Jacobite rebellion of 1745. The final poem of the collection is a biographical epistle to Rabbie Burns, used in the six-line 'Standard Hubbie' form made so popular by that most famous of Scottish bards.
