Excerpt from The Scarlet Gown: Being Verses by a St. Andrews Man This volume includes all the poems contained in the first edition of The Scarlet Gown, published in 1891, and also nineteen additional poems, six of which have not previously been issued in book form. Thirteen poems have been selected from the Authors Poems (Longmans, 1894)and are published here with the kind consent of Mr. M. J. C. Meiklejohn. Acknowledgments are due to the proprietors of Longmans' Magazine and Punch for permission to reprint certain verses. A few minor changes in the text, made by the Author after the publication of the first edition, are now incorporated.
