The Wesleys and their co-workers were apostolic in life and labors. In the United Kingdom, Christian ity had become a mere dogma or a divine scheme of philosophy - nothing more. In sermon and in song the vvesleys taught that Christianity was a divine power, and that nothing short of a new birth by the Holy Spirit of God would entitle a man to be called a Christian. This was the secret of the marvelous growth of Methodism in Great Britain and, later, in our own land.
