The Record of the Hampden-Sydney Alumni Association, Vol. 50

Excerpt from The Record of the Hampden-Sydney Alumni Association, Vol. 50: Winter 1973I originally wrote this speech as a result of my 15-year-old daughter asking me if I thought that this would be the last generation of people. This was the impression she was getting from her high school classes. When I first started the study to answer her question, I also was pessimistic about the predicament that mankind had apparently stumbled into. The more I have probed, on a rational and scientific basis, the more encouraged I have become. It is clear that our technology has generated some undesirable problems but it is equally clear that we can solve them if we are willing to apply the scientific method and pay the cost. There is much misinformation being disseminated.I first presented this information as a lay sermon at St. Martin's Episcopal Church, Bentleyville, Ohio, Nov. 21, 1971. The response was overwhelming, especially among the young people. The reaction has been the same among both technical and non-technical people. The information is, without question, brightening the outlook of those who read it and hear it.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
