In current Christianity, many are deceived into thinking that they are saved and going to heaven, when in fact they are lost and are going to hell. This happens because the church, in its' attempt to increase numbers, has moved away from God's method of bringing people into His kingdom (preaching of the gospel) and invented their own method of filling the house of God with goats using altar calls, drama, and the sinner's prayer.One of the most widely used methods is the "asking Jesus into your heart" prayer. They have forgotten what Jesus said in John15:16" that we did not choose Him, He chose us." In the book of Romans chapter 9 God tells us that salvation is not of our will, because He is the one that shows mercy. In other words, salvation comes through the preaching of the gospel and the calling of God.
