Upon this they go home, the boy swearing luridly, ' for he felt that it was a degradation for one who aimed to be some vague kind of a soldier or a man of blood, with a sort of sublime licence, to be taken home by a father.' This is the first chapter much condensed. In the original there are eight pages of it. Is it art?
