Pain, so frequently considered characteristic of cancer, is inevitable only when a nerve is directly implicated. Otherwise it indicates a dirty, distended, or otherwise neglected stomach. Some degree of discomfort cannot be avoided, but a well - cared for gastric cancer is not painful, unless the circumstances are peculiar.
