Excerpt from The Manuscripts of Charles Haliday, Esq., Of Dublin: Acts of the Privy Council in Ireland, 1556-1571The Book of the Privy Council in Ireland, here printed for the first time, commences on the twenty-sixth day of May 1556, and ends on the twenty-second of March 1570 - 71.The manuscript is on paper of foolscap size, most of its leaves are written on both sides with wide margins. Some leaves are blank, but all are marked in front at head in Arabic figures, and the final leaf is numbered 343.The penmanship throughout the book is in styles known in England at the time as text, secretary, and Italic hands.
