Cedar Grove Cemetery was Opened in August, 1893, and is located between Corona and Flushing, L. Five and one-half miles from New York. It is the nearest cemetery to the upper end of the city from the East N inety-ninth Street Ferry, and is reached also by the Long Island Railroad from East Thirty-fourth Street Ferry, or by the East Twentythird, Thirty-fourth, Roosevelt, Houston and Grand Street ferries. Four hundred acres comprise the cemetery, and the first year it was Opened over one hundred bodies were interred in it. The lawn plan prevails in this cemetery with its accompany ing restrictions regarding enclosures of graves, plots and lots, and a few hours' notice only is required to secure the opening of a grave.
