Since the middle of the 20th century, tropical forest has been reducing at an alarming rate, despite various efforts at local and international levels to curb deforestation. The depletion of forest and biodiversity underpinning it is a challenge, due to its socio-economic and environmental importance. The arguments have been that, unless trends change the consequences will be severe, an eventual compromise of forest sustainability and human well-being. This book thus provides a new management system which is based on synergy.
