Excerpt from The House on the Hill: And Other Poems
To M. G. W
Though thy rich worth transcends the art
Of all my poetry,
This hook of verses from my heart
I dedicate to thee.
The earth below, the heaven above,
Thy nature sweet and strong,
I melt them in the fire of love
And coin them into song.
Though rough the die, yet fire is there,
Then take these songs. They ring
Of metal true, and lo! they bear
The image of our King.
