The Forgetters

Angebote / Angebote:

After a two-decade gap between books, Sarris is now deep into his reemergence as a literary author. His latest book with Heyday, Becoming Story (2022), received glowing coverage from Kirkus (starred review), Foreword, the San Francisco Chronicle, and Alta, among others. Readers will be delighted at the appearance of another Greg Sarris book so soon.A new collection of stories but rather than focusing on creation stories, as with How a Mountain Was Made (Heyday, 2017), these stories are more focused on individuals in more modern times: characters in the North Bay in the nineteenth and twentieth century. The book will have a similar structure to How a Mountain  as well: stories bookended by conversation between the two crows, Question Woman and Answer Woman. The Forgetters will be simultaneously released with a paperback edition of Sarris's last book,  Becoming Story.Sarris is a respected author in the field of Native studies, so there are opportunities to cultivate academic attention and course adoptions. Sarris is connected with other prominent Heyday authors, from Deborah Miranda to Obi Kaufmann (he co-hosts a podcast with Kaufmann called Place and Purpose, so there are existing opportunities for cross-promotion among Heyday authors and books. The Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria support literary endeavors like the Bay Area Book Festival, so we are planning event promotion opportunities of a large scale. Graton may also purchase copies for tribal members.
