Excerpt from The Economical Irrigation of Alfalfa in Sacramento ValleyThe total depths of 30, 36, 48, and 60 inches were given in indi vidual applications of inches, 9 inches, 12 inches, and 15 inches, respectively. In 1910, 1912, and 1913, following winters of low rain fall, the first irrigations were given immediately after the first cuttings, but in 1911, 1914, and 1915, following relatively wet winters, irrigation began after the second cutting. All of the plats were large enough to represent normal field practice, so the work should be classed as field experiments rather than laboratory experiments. Irrigation water was supplied from a pumping plant On the tract delivering approximately cubic foot per second.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
