In some fil elds, notably steel and uutomobiles, production has not been suf'ficient to meet the heavy demands resulting from.wartime restrictions on the production of civilian woods. The non-durable goods industries, which were relatively well maintained during the war, have been producing about three fourths, more than before the war. Deferred demands for this group of commodities have largely been met. Recently, production -of textiles and shoes has been trending downward.
