Excerpt from The Crayfish of MissouriIn my taxonomic studies upon the crayfish of Missouri, Dr. Ayers called attention to the fact that the species of Cambarus within this state presented favorable material for the study of variations and further that the field was the more attractive because so little work of this kind had been done in the Mississippi River basin.I have had an opportunity to examine a large number of individuals belonging to several species and have made a special study of the variations which a species presents.
