Excerpt from The Church Plate of the Diocese of Bangor The next type, which appears to have prevailed from about 1260 to 1300, has a lower depression or single depression octofoil or multifoil. The most interesting specimen of this kind is undoubtedly the one at Wyke Church, near Winchester, which has the Agnus Dei as a central device sunk in a circular depression, the other depression being octofoil. A legend is engraved on the border: Cunta creo. Virtute rego pietate reformo. Another remarkable Paten of this period is that at York Minster, the only known example where the first and not the second depression is multifoil.
