The Art of Floating is dedicated to the poet's father, who taught her how to surrender to and survive the rough waters of mental illness. Solace and healing are found in nature, not only in the terrestrial landscapes, flora, and fauna of northeastern and southwestern Ontario, but also in looking to the skies, particularly the moon. Celestial and seasonal reflection tilts into the ethereal and supernatural and then into the scientific, before grounding itself in the people who inhabit these disparate territories, and wresting hope from every observation, interaction, and experience, along the way.
