Kai Kresse is Professor of Social and Cultural Anthropology at Freie Universit¿Berlin, and Vice Director for Research at Leibniz Zentrum Moderner Orient (ZMO), Berlin. Before that, he was Associate Professor of African and Swahili Studies at Columbia University.
