The secretion here is alkaline.As a result of the investigations of numerous observers we may con elude that the normal vagina of pregnant and non-pregnant women may contain pathogenic bacteria. With the exception of the gonococcus, such bacteria are not often present, and the vaginal secretion does not, as a rule, permit the prolonged survival of most of the bacteria, includ ing pathogenic forms, which may enter.
