Excerpt from Storm Bound
Storm Bound
We were snow bound for many days,
No trains or mails for just eleven,
And so we passed in divers ways
The time, our party numbered seven.
There was Uncle John and his good wife,
And cousins Frank and Sue,
And Miss O'Neil of city life,
Myself and Billy Blue.
My uncle was a jolly man,
My aunt a lady rare,
And anything that we would plan
To do, they'do their share.
But telling stories was my uncle's forte,
Nor needed he much teasing,
And every evening when we tired of sport
His stories were most pleasing.
His father was a pioneer, and so
My uncle' early training
Gave him experiences which told to us
Were very entertaining.
