Excerpt from Specifications for the New Waterside Power House of the New York Edison Company: New York, July 1907These specifications are intended to cover in a general way the construction contracts of the New Waterside, now known as the Waterside No. 2 power house, although the general clauses have been omitted in order to save space.It was thought advisable in the design of the station to pro vide for either vertical reciprocating engines or for either or both of two types of steam turbine units of the maximum sizes then developed, thus necessitating a compromise between the demands of the various designs, and the operating room was laid out to contain twelve k. W. Vertical engines, or sixteen k. W. Vertical turbine units, or twelve k. W. Horizontal turbine units.
