I simply resort here to the antiquated foreword, as it is the only vehicle I know for expressing acknowledgments of courtesies received. All the verses in this collection, ' save one, have been admitted to the hospitality of the periodicals, and my thanks are given to the Editors of To-day, Black and White, The Bystander, The King, and The Referee, for conceding to me the right of republi cation. My acknowledgments are also expressed to Messrs. C. Arthur Pearson, Ltd., for their courtesy in permitting the inclusion of the verses Desiderata, which appeared in The Lady's Magazine.
