Excerpt from Sixth Annual Report of the Bureau of Industrial Statistics of MarylandThe Sixth Annual Report of this Bureau will be found to contain a variety of subjects, vitally affecting the industrial' condition of the State of Maryland and the City of Balti more. I here desire to direct the attention of the Legisla ture to the defects existing in the law under which this Bureau is operating. They are an absolute insufficiency of the appropriation and the lack of authority With which to compel the divulging of such information as this Bureau is directed to publish. Experience has taught that if such departments of government are to accomplish satisfactory results, they should not be fettered in their performance. My predecessors in office frequently pointed out these needs, and my experience but emphasizes the correctness of their com plaint.
