Philip, who married to his first wife Winifred, daughter of Thomas Stonor of Stonor, in the county of Oxford, Esq, by whom he had issue one daughter, named Winifred, who was married to William Lord Stourton, and died July 15, 1753, and one son named Thomas, born Feb. 4, 1727-8. By his second wife, Henrietta, daughter of Edward Blount of Blagdon, in the county of Devon, Esq, and sister to the present Duchess of Norfolk, he had one son named Edward, and a daughter named Anne. And the said Philip their father died Jan. 3, 1749-50. This noble Duke is descended from Thomas de Brotherton, Earl of Norfolk, fifth son of King Edward I. The Earl of Surrey, general of the English army, his Grace's ancestor, obtained that decisive victory over the Scots at Flodden Field, anno 1513, wherein King James IV. of Scotland lost his life. Arms.] Gules, in the middle of a bend between six cross croslets, argent, a shield, or, therein a demilion rampant, pierced through the mouth with an arrow, within a double tressure counterstory, gules. Crest.] On a chapeau, gules, turned up ermine, a sion passant-guardant, his tail extended, gorged with a ducal coronet, argent, as descended from Margaret, daughter and heir of Thomas de Brotherton, Earl of Norfolk, fifth son of Edward I.
