This small book is the second of two volumes on the shabads of Sr¿ Gur¿ Tegh Bah¿dur J¿ that can be found within the section of R¿gs within the Sr¿ Gur¿ Granth S¿hib J¿. Many Sikhs read the Saloks of Sri Gur¿ Tegh Bah¿dur J¿ and focus on this dispassionate work but do not realise that the Gur¿ also authored 59 different shabads within the Sr¿ Gur¿ Granth S¿hib J¿.
The purpose of this publication and the previous volume is to celebrate the 400-year anniversary of the manifestation of Sr¿ Gur¿ Tegh Bah¿dur J¿ to the earth. The ninth Gur¿ of the Sikhs played a pivotal role in the story of both martyrdom and the preparation of the Kh¿ls¿ order becoming manifest. The one aspect that people tend to forget about is the scriptural writing by the Gur¿ and the influence they have on an individual to obtain a state of dispassion to focus on the reality of the true quest in life.
In this small book, you will find the commentary of the shabads along with any additional stories that are required to understand the narratives being explained. This volume contains the final thirty shabads that are found authored by the Gur¿ within the R¿gs of Dhan¿sr¿, Jaitsr¿, Tod¿, Tilang, Bil¿val, Ramkal¿, M¿r¿, Basant, Sarang and Jaij¿vant¿. The commentary is taken from the 'Gurb¿n¿ Arth Bhand¿r commentary compiled by Sant Gi¿n¿ Har¿ Singh (Randh¿we w¿le). This volume comprises of the knowledge found within the diasporas directly linked to preserving the definitions provided by Sr¿ Gur¿ Gobind Singh J¿ to the Sikhs. I pay my salutations to this work as it provides an insight to the knowledge being provided by the Gur¿ to the Sikhs. It is for this reason I wanted to bring this knowledge to an English-speaking audience.
