Excerpt from Sermons and Notes of SermonsFather henry ignatius dudley ryder was a member of the Birmingham Oratory from 1856 to his death in 1907, and from the time of his ordination, in 1863, until he was handicapped by illness in the early years of this century, he preached in his turn in the Church of the Oratory. In his life-time he had no particular renown as a preacher, and during the whole of his career he preached perhaps not more than half-a-dozen times out of our church, and certainly never out side Birmingham. Thus the sermons in this volume must be accepted for what they are discourses, not prepared for special occasions, but preached in the ordinary routine of parochial work, more than this they do not profess to be.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
