The story is about a down and out New York detective named Richard Roberts who had a choice of moving to the little quiet town of Juniper Beach, in sunny south Florida and finishing out his carrier, or be prosecuted and spend the rest of his life in prison. The choice was made for him by his captain and so called friend. Richard began to drunk after finding out his wife was having an affair with of all people his partner. Richard of course did the manly thing and confronted them which didn't go well, then some how he was blamed for trying to kill them, something he doesn't remember doing. His only regret was losing the love of his life his daughter.
So, Richard made the best of it thinking he would move to this little town finish his last two years before his retirement then move down to the keys buy a boat and fish and drink until he died, sounded like a good idea.
Well not all dreams come true.
The little quiet town of Juniper beach would not stay so quiet. Drugs, sex and a gay serial killer seem to all arrive at the same time. He started out with a young local man, being found murdered in the sea grapes by a young girl who was playing hide and seek from her mother.
Then the hunt begins as a serial killer with a passion for cutting off men's privates continues his spree in the cave like sea grapes. But then Richard gets entangled in the mess, finding out that drugs and sex with young boys is all part of an elaborate scheme involving local cops, surfers and even a few local good old boys.
There is also a twist, which leaves you wondering who the real bad guys are.
Michael T. Sutton started by writing non-fiction books, usually about his personal life, which is always a tough task, many times causing much pain to accomplish. Reliving the past is tough, but great therapy and much cheaper then a therapist, believing that using his past to educate others is always a good thing.
