Excerpt from Sacramental Exercises, Chiefly in the Language of Holy Scripture: Intended to Furnish the Christian Communicant, With a Profitable Spiritual Exercise, During the Period of the Dispensation of the Divine Ordinance
For we are not come unto the mount Sinai, which was palpable, and which burned with fire, nor unto darkness, storm and tempest, and the sound of a trumpet, and ofgod's words, which sound, they that heard intreated that the words should not be spoken to them any longer - but We are come onto mount Sion - and unto the city of the living God - the heavenly Jerusalem - and to an innumerable com pany of Angels - to the General Assembly of the church of the first-born, whose names are written in heaven - and to God the Judge of all - and to the spirits ofjust men, made perfect - and to Jesus, the mediator of the New Covenant - and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better than the blood of Abel. Wherefore, we, receiving an im moveable kingdom, let us possess grace whereby we may serve our God acceptably, with reverence, and the fear of God, for he is a consuming firez.
