Some of the papers, I have no doubt, will just awaken sufficient interest to keep them afloat during their short day, - especially such as treat upon every-day life, and those domestic scenes which have fallen under my own eye, and which must, therefore, have the merit of being original. Many literary men, whose opinions I set great store by, have often expressed a wish that I should sketch such subjects as have come under my own experience, and in five or six of these papers I have attempted the task, and on their reception depends the working out of my plan.
