Coleridge was reading about Kubla Khan and his palace and stately garden, when he fell asleep, and during that sleep he composed not less than three hundred lines. When he awoke his recollection was so vivid that he wrote down the whole of the poem. If I but possessed Cole ridge's genius I would fain write down all I heard and saw in my sleep, but alas my recollection is not as good as Coleridge's, neither am I able to give such a fine de scription of what I saw.
