Excerpt from Road Material Surveys in 1915This report is the result of a detailed survey of the materials lying within wagon-hauling distance of the-route proposed for an improvul highway between the city of Ottawa and the town of Prescott, Ontario. The area examined includes some 550 square miles and embraces a strip of. Territory at least 10 miles wide, with the route of the proposed road through the middle, near Ottawa it was extended to include all the townships of Nepean and Gloucester. The report deals with all materials within the area that could be used for road-mak'ing - bedrock. Glacial boulders or field stone, and gravel.
