Excerpt from Report of the Superintendent of Education for Lower Canada, for the Year 1856: Translated From the FrenchThe Legislature has permitted the Executive Government to impose condi tions When granting aid to the several institutions. - This will materially assist in introducing many important improvements. One of the most important, and one which it is my intention to recommend in 1859, (so that time may be given for the necessary preparations) will be the general use of desks and seats such as those now used in the Normal Schools, or constructed on any other plan pos sessing the same advantages.
